| The trouble with having a fleet of National Express-liveried coaches was that the engineers would shove them out on local operations, traffic managers would encourage customers to think they were travelling National Express, and the vehicles were not available when needed for their liveried duties. Many of the difficulties were caused by tradition-based managers and crews resenting the creation of the National Express network - something that still comes through the enthusiasts publications - and the loss of local control.
